against the spine
it's loving kiss,
it's gaping maw
before thy face,
and eat thy heart
in locked embrace..

falling downwards reaching upwards

an old tree, fallen,
now a hundred years,
for another hundred,
grows new, twisting old roots,
still grasping ancient banks....
stronger, now balanced...
